Sean R. Keegan

Area of Emphasis

Sean Keegan is senior counsel in the Litigation and Employment and Labor groups of Babst Calland. Mr. Keegan has a broad range of litigation experience in several practice areas including commercial, labor and employment, energy, and maritime. He has experience defending shareholder dispute claims, oil and gas lease disputes, insurance claims, and premises liability claims. Mr. Keegan has represented clients in both state and federal courts throughout the United States.

Background

Mr. Keegan received his B.A. in History and a Certificate in Adolescent Education from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 2009.  In 2013, he received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law where he graduated cum laude.  While in law school, Mr. Keegan served as an Executive Editor of the Journal of Law and Commerce and received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Evidence.  He also served as a law clerk for both the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development and the New York State Office of the Attorney General.

Memberships and Affiliations

Mr. Keegan is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.  He is a member of the Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and American Bar associations. Mr. Keegan has received a Best Lawyers®: Ones to Watch recognition from BL Rankings for Commercial Litigation since 2021 and for Litigation – Labor and Employment since 2022.  He was also selected to the Pennsylvania Rising Stars list (Thomson Reuters) in 2023.
