Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) currently has several significant rulemakings pending. In addition, in June 2016, Congress passed the PIPES Act (Protecting our Infrastructure of Pipelines and Enhancing Safety Act of 2016) introducing a number of new congressional mandates covering pipeling safety.
