Austin D. Rogers

Area of Emphasis

Austin Rogers is an associate in the Energy and Natural Resources and Litigation groups of Babst Calland. Mr. Rogers is primarily involved in general civil litigation in state and federal courts in West Virginia. He has experience with complex litigation before the West Virginia Mass Litigation Panel, defense of class actions, and litigation related to royalty disputes, operating agreements, leases, and commercial contracts. In addition, he has provided corporate representation and consultation related to employment, environmental, contract, leasing, and construction matters. Mr. Rogers also has appellate experience before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Background

Mr. Rogers graduated from Old Dominion University with a B.S. in Political Science and a B.S. in Criminal Justice in 2017. He received his J.D. from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2020, where he served as the Executive Article Selection and Symposium Editor of the West Virginia Law Review. While in law school, Mr. Rogers participated in the United States Supreme Court Clinic, Land Use and Sustainable Development Clinic, and the General Litigation Clinic. Prior to joining Babst Calland, he worked as a staff attorney for the Public Service Commission of West Virginia.

Memberships and Affiliations

Mr. Rogers is admitted to practice in West Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. He is also admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia. He currently serves on Defense Trial Counsel West Virginia’s Young Lawyer Board and is actively involved in the Energy and Mineral Law Foundation, the Gas and Oil Association of West Virginia (GO-WV), the American Association of Airport Executives, Airports Council International – North America, and the West Virginia Airport Managers Association.
