Ramonda Marling is a shareholder in the Energy and Natural Resources and Litigation groups. of Babst Calland. Ms. Marling primarily represents clients in litigation and commercial matters. She has extensive experience in complex, high-dollar commercial litigation matters representing natural gas producers, midstream companies, coal companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, tobacco companies and other corporations.

She has represented natural gas producers in litigation involving class action royalty disputes, lease disputes, trespass (including subsurface trespass) and nuisance matters; midstream companies in trespass; coal companies in contract disputes; employment and deliberate intent matters; tobacco companies in product liability matters; mining companies in safety and health matters; coal broker in international contract dispute; and brokerage firms and investment advisors against claims of fraud, misrepresentation, and violations of federal and state laws.

Ms. Marling has first chair trial and appellate experience.

Background

Ms. Marling received her B.A. in Philosophy and English from West Virginia University in 1992. She earned her J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law in 1995, where she was recognized as a Phi Beta Kappa scholar.

Memberships and Affiliations

Ms. Marling is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court of Appeals, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia, the Supreme Court of Ohio and the Supreme Court of North Carolina (inactive). She is a graduate of Leadership West Virginia and a member of the American Bar Association and the Energy Mineral Law Foundation.

Ms. Marling has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® by BL Rankings in the Oil and Gas Law Section since 2020. She was also selected to the West Virginia Rising Stars list (Thomson Reuters) in 2008 and as a Future Star in Benchmark Litigation in 2012.
